General Philosophy This office believes that every patient has the right to be comfortable during a dental experience. Even in procedures where some discomfort is involved, pain is not a necessary component. Patients who are fearful of a dental visit most often learned this fear through some past experience. Such a fear can be unlearned. This office believes that prevention of disease is healthier, more enjoyable and less costly than treating disease after it exists. Through preventive dentistry and by learning to be healthy, dental problems can be kept at a minimum. If you want to begin practicing preventive dental habits, we can help you learn about them. We believe that patients are entitled to be treated as people; special people because they have come to me for treatment. While you are here, you will receive all our attention; it will not be divided. We strongly believe that, if we take the time to talk to you and to communicate with you, you will be more comfortable. Both your health and your comfort are our concerns.

We'll Build Your Smile, One Visit After
Another
Our mission is to help you to keep your teeth forever, to never have a toothache, to preserve every millimeter of your tooth, to prevent or minimize gum disease, to avoid surgery whenever possible, to preserve or enhance the esthetics of your smile and to recommend the use of the longest lasting dental restorative material available. These goals can only be accomplished through an ongoing dialogue between patient and dentist, with the dentist utilizing every avenue of communication to understand the wants and expectations of the patient and the patient receiving adequate information on the condition of their mouth and the materials used to restore the mouth. Achieving this level of dental care begins by providing a very complete dental examination and most importantly by forming a mutual doctor-patient relationship. And finally, our goal is for the patient to utilize the information presented to them to decide on what treatment to receive and which materials to use to improve the health and quality of their mouth.

Children Make appointment days easier for your child. When possible, for young children we suggest that you try to make no other tiring plans for your child that day. Often it is best to wait until the day of the appointment to inform a young child about a dental visit. This does not give the child much time to wonder about the visit, or to hear any "neighborhood" dental experiences. Please convey the feeling that dental visits are a part of growing up. It is unwise to offer rewards or indicate in any way that there is anything to fear. In the event that you bolster a child's courage prior to the dental visit, it might even have the opposite effect of frightening the child. We strongly recommend a pretreatment conference between parent(s) and doctor prior to child's visit; either in person or by phone.

Office Hours Office hours are by appointment. Appointments are available days and evenings. We try hard to maintain our schedule so that you will not have to wait when you arrive for your appointment. A certain portion of each day is set aside for emergencies, however, so please understand that sometimes emergency treatment for another patient may result in a delay. Emergency Care When we first meet, if you have an emergency, we will treat the emergency and then give you an appointment for a more thorough examination. If a problem arises when the office is closed, the answering machine will give you home telephone numbers. When we are away, the practice is always covered for emergencies by another dentist.
