CHILDREN'S DENTAL HEALTH MONTH CONTEST
In February, in honor of Children’s Dental Health Month the office of Dr. Steven Cohen, D.M.D. held an art or essay contest for our young patients, age 6-18 years old. Entries could include any drawing, painting, photograph or image, sculpture, carving, engraving, or any other form of media art or an essay encompassing the theme of "Why it is important to have a healthy mouth".
The results are in and several artistically and intellectually superior kids have emerged as winners. The three judges spent a lot of time deciding on the recipients. We want to thank Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix, Charles Dunn, VP of Northern Bank in Sudbury and Stella Luberto, owner of Stella’s Cakes in Marlboro for their time and assistance in judging this event. The choices were not easy and were time consuming.
Dr. Cohen would like to announce that first place and a cash prize of $500.00 was won by Sophia Gakis for her essay “Why It Is Important To Have A Healthy Mouth.” We hope that her check will go towards her college expenses.
Second place and a gift certificate for $50.00 went to Andrew Cook for his painting of a mouth eating a hamburger and his essay “Take Good Care Of Your Teeth.”
Third place was won by Brendan Cook for his 2 essays.
Elana Gakis was awarded First Runner Up for her beautiful color crayon drawing of oral hygiene devices and procedures.
Finally Katrina Gakis secured an honorable mention for her photo essay of many different smiles.
The contestants will also receive additional gifts.
